Glimpses, photos & experiences of a foreigner living in Slovenia, Ljubljana
In our days, if you are a vegan person or want to become, is not that hard in Ljubljana. There are plenty of restaurants and other type of places that offer vegetarian and vegan meals, as well the shops and markets have a diverse range of vegetarian and vegan products, from the basics and raw ingredients that grew in Slovenia or imported from the close by countries.
One of my New Year resolutions was to give up the milk & cheese products. So far, so good, I am blessed with the help of vegan friends that recommend me easily findable products. Today I have chocolate cravings so I rushed to the first Mercator shop just around the corner and I got Italian chocolate rice milk and Croatian vegan mint chocolate .
But, almost as a norm, the majority of people living in Slovenia are mostly meat and cheese eaters so if you are travelling to Slovenia and want to be sure you will communicate your vegan preferences to all the places you will eat out, I recommend to use “Please read, I am vegan” , in English and Slovenian languages made by the Slovenian Vegan Society.
