Ljubljana and me

Glimpses, photos & experiences of a foreigner living in Slovenia, Ljubljana

Pyramid of Zois

When I started exploring the architecture of Ljubljana I had no idea that this town has so many hidden ,in plane sight, symbols. One of this symbols is the pyramid , created in different areas, from markets till decorating crossroads , by Jože Plečnik.

This time I discovered the pyramid P1070675aaa, located on one of the axes that Jože Plečnik created through the city, to connect with the spire of St. James Church on the other side of Ljubljanica river,on Zoisova Street. The pyramid was created in 1927, in memory of Žiga Zois, a Carniolan nobleman, natural scientist, Freemason and patron of the arts, considered the most educated man of his time in Slovenia, creator of what was called Zois‛ enlightened circle .

The pyramid doesn’t resemblance an Egypt one but more a pyramid portrayed on Freemason robes and the Dollar bill but still being a beautiful sight, in Ljubljana P1070673aaa.
