Glimpses, photos & experiences of a foreigner living in Slovenia, Ljubljana
The long winter continues in Ljubljana , one of the few sparks of light your eyes can rest on, is The Franciscan Church of Annunciation, that is colored, its red color is symbolic of the Franciscan monastic order, but more is seen as pink-ish:),I call it..Pink Church..
It is located in Prešernov trg – central square , with a an entire view over the central square ,The famous Triple Bridge of Ljubljana,of Plečnik and your eyes can see even The Ljubljana Castle,up on the hill .
Entering the church , you get pleasant surprised by an alive, colored worship place with the Baroque main altar executed by the sculptor Francesco Robba, and the frescos, the original ones being ruined by the cracks in the ceiling caused by the Ljubljana earthquake in 1895, the the new frescoes were painted in 1936 by the Slovene impressionist painter Matej Sternen. .
